How to Choose Rubber Grass Mats

Rubber Grass Mats are one of our best-sellers. Our customers use our grass mats in a variety of ways, from businesses that use hundreds of mats for big projects to homes that use just one mat in their gardens. We'll talk about why our rubber mats are so popular, how to properly install them, how customers have used them in the past, and frequently asked questions in this blog.

Rubber Grass Mats & Their Benefits

Our rubber grass mats are made entirely of recycled rubber and are available in two thicknesses—16mm and 23mm. Both mats can be used indoors or outdoors due to their durability, weather resistance, and portability. Our grass mats' porous construction not only provides these advantages but also protects the grass's roots and encourages new growth while also allowing for natural drainage. Additionally, they can be mounted on flat or curved surfaces and are wheelchair-friendly. As you can see, our mats are a useful product that can be used for a wide range of applications.

How Can Your Grass Mats Be Used?

We are occasionally surprised to learn that customers have installed rubber grass mats around sheep feeders and bee hives, for instance, despite the fact that these mats are extremely adaptable and suitable for a vast array of applications. For additional examples of how our mats have been used, read each of our rubber grass mats blogs.

Grass Protection Mats

Grass protection is primarily what makes grass mats famous: they protect the grass below by shielding its root and allowing it to grow naturally. In this case study, a customer decided to reseed his turf after it was nearly completely destroyed by his dogs before installing Premium Rubber Grass Mats throughout his garden to stop further damage and let the grass grow naturally.

Rubber Grass Mats For Paths & Walkways

One of the most common uses for our rubber grass mats is to make paths, walkways, and standing areas. At their allotment, St. Werburghs City Farm constructed a stable, non-slip, wheelchair-friendly path with our grass mats. The farm team needed an accessible paving system, so they tried our mats because some people had trouble getting to the allotments because of the terrain.

How To Install Rubber Grass Mats

A step-by-step guide for installing rubber grass mats correctly that includes plastic fixing pegs and cable ties.

  1. Measure and mark the area where the rubber grass mats will be installed. Shorten the grass before removing any remaining debris or clippings.

  2. Use high-quality sandy topsoil to level out any uneven areas if you want a level surface. Before seeding or turfing the area, compact the surface thoroughly.

  3. Set your rubber grass mats in the marked area and cut them to fit around any obstacles if necessary.

  4. Maintain a level surface for your grass mats by ensuring that the mats are next to the touch. Then, at intervals of 150 millimeters, join the adjacent mats' edges together with cable ties. The fixed cable ties should have their ends trimmed so that they are neither hazardous nor exposed to the surface above.

  5. After they have been fixed together, secure the plastic fixing pegs into the ground by hammering or malleting them at intervals of 500 millimeters to ensure that your grass mats will not move when walked on.

  6. Utilize your grass mats right away and wait for the grass to grow through for a sturdy, natural-looking grassed area.
